The Matrix is a confidential, friendly and responsive project for sex workers and those engaging in risky sexual behavior. The service aims to support all individuals to improve their health and wellbeing through direct support from the service, through signposting to partner agencies and by empowering each individual who contacts the services to take positive action.

The Matrix is aware that Health and Wellbeing is a wide and complex area which is different for each individual. However, the team has developed a range of resources and pathways to support individuals to access appropriate services in a timely manner. Whilst the team are able to provide individual support around any concerns regarding health and wellbeing they have developed specialist skills regarding psychological wellbeing and concerns regarding substance misuse.

You can find the NHS Walk-in Centre in Norwich at: Norwich Practices Health Centre, Rouen House, Rouen Road, Norwich, NR1 1RB. T: 01603 677500.

If you would like to access appropriate health and wellbeing support without contacting the Matrix, please follow the guidance on the NHS website:

Sexual Health

We provide advice and support about keeping safe when working. We have a sexual health clinic within the City Reach Surgery in Norwich. At present we will work with G.U.M clinics elsewhere in the county to meet the needs of those in the rest of the county. If you would like an appointment please call the Matrix Project on 01603 883423.

Contraception allows you to choose when and if you want to become pregnant. Using another form of contraception as well as condoms means that you won’t become pregnant if a condom breaks. Contraception is available from our clinic, most sexual health clinics, or from your GP. Some forms of contraception can also help you to control or stop your periods safely which may be very useful for you.

We don’t know how you came to be working in the sex industry in the UK and if you are fine then we want to support you to do so safely. Working in the sex industry can be emotionally stressful particularly if you are new to it or recently arrived in the UK. Some women find it useful to talk to someone in confidence. You can come to visit us at our office or call us and we can refer you to counselling services that will be happy to help you.
